Vehicle Description - 1970 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible, #’s matching 455, Auto, AC
This is a genuine, numbers matching 1970 442 convertible that has never been restored, just fanatically maintained and once had a cosmetic refresh with a couple of upgrades. Super sweet quality in amazing condition, and she runs and drives GREAT!! Check out the paperwork > BUILD SHEET, WINDOW STICKER, original owner’s title, dealer order sheet, that is crazy!!
EXTERIOR: What’s a 70’s muscle car? Well, the scoops and stripes tell it all! A Fresh Air hood has been added, steel with fiberglass scoops. The 442 stripes are done accurately, they are a lot more difficult than you may think. It has the correct 442 emblems. It was repainted in its original, special order “Cinnamon Bronze” color which was only available on the Toronado. It was beautifully applied using current base coat / clear coat paint. Looking down the side of the body it is straight, and all the panels are properly aligned with good gaps. The big heavy doors close easily with minimal effort. The white soft top compliments the stripes perfectly. The 442 grills are in great shape and all the trim presents very well. The bumpers are original. It's sitting on the original set of Super Stock I wrapped in B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A tires. Like I said, you could fly in and drive this bad-boy home to anywhere!
INTERIOR: The interior of this 442 drop top is beautiful, everything is like new! The sun visors, door panels, seats, console and carpeting have all been replaced. The POWER bucket seats, and console were added during a ”re-fresh” about 10 years ago and look great in this classic Olds. Options include sport steering wheel with the tilt, power windows, power top, A/C, tinted glass, deluxe seat belts, door edge guards, clock, stereo tape player, and light group (I may be forgetting others). It has Rally gauges with the Tic Toc Tach. Milage is currently a click over 77k. The Am-Fm radio is actually a reproduction with modern internals. Overall, this interior is a knockout!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This car has the original “born with” 455 365hp engine, The Ram Air induction system is hooked up and working (needs the foam ring for the air cleaner). The air conditioning has been serviced and upgraded to R-134 freon. All the components are original, proper, maintained and clean.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Inside is very complete. It has the Oldsmobile felt mat, and it also has the rubber accessory mat. It also has a working trunk light. Plus, a matching SS-I wheel with full size spare tire and jack assembly.
UNDER CARRIAGE: It comes with the 442 suspension which includes boxed rear control arms plus front and rear sway bars. The steering and suspension are in great shape and have been 100% maintained during this 20+ year ownership. It has a recent Gardner exhaust system with the classic 442 “Trumpet” exhaust tips exiting under the rear 442 bumper. The gas tank has been replaced along the way. It has power disc brakes up front, drums in back, and the E-brake setup works well. The transmission is the original Turbo 400 automatic transmission. In back is the factory installed 12 bolt rear end with high-way friendly 3:23 posi gears. The floors and rockers are solid and the floors are perfect with a very thin coat of factory undercoating. This car has never been rusted or used as a daily driver in the last 40 years. This car is located in Massachusetts.
