1970 Chevelle SS396 Convertible, Astro Blue with Parchment (White) interior and top. Options include power steering, power front disc brakes, power top, bucket seats and console. This beautiful Chevelle is powered by a 1974 vintage 454, backed by the original Muncie 4-spd transmission and 12-bolt Posi rear end.
The original engine was launched over 50 years ago, as many were back in the day - this may have been a warranty replacement engine given the numbers on the engine. It’s a 70’s vintage 454 short block. The car runs and drives very well, the current owner doesn't drive it much anymore so he's decided to pass her onto the next caretaker. The paint and body fitment is superb, no waves and the paint exhibits nearly no orange peel. The glass and weather-stripping presents well, the chrome and SS ornamentation is stunning and the cowl induction hood is operable. The exhaust has that classic 70's big block Chevy growl causing you to never want to use the AM-FM aftermarket radio that's in the car currently (orig radio is included). The tires are nice re-pop Goodyear F70-14 Polyglas Bias ply tires (try buying these today - BIG $$$), wrapped around factory SS road wheels. The wheel's center caps and trim rings are flawless, they look real nice.
The speed'o shows 54,800 miles - not sure if that's accurate but based on the condition of this car I'd say it could be. The factory SS required F41 suspension is tight and the front and rear sway bars along with links and rear boxed LCA's are in great shape - a set of radials swapped out with another set of wheels would be a nice option if you really want to do a lot of driving, you'll want to preserve the Goodyear tires for shows. The white interior really pops against the blue body and white SS stripes. NO rips, no wear, it all looks really well maintained. The owner has had the car for about 12 years or so and always maintained it and covered it when not in use in his heated garage, there are no disappointments with this car. If you are looking for a nice driving Chevelle SS convertible I challenge you to find one as nice as this in this price range.
