1966 427/425 Corvette Roadster - TOP FLIGHT, 100 miles since completion - PRISTINE!!
1966 Corvette Roadster – 427/425hp – 4spd TOP FLIGHT award car with only 100 miles since it’s completion in 2020
First time available since a very comprehensive nut and bolt restoration that was done by Endless Summer Corvette Restorations in Acton MA back in 2020. The car has been driven approximately 100 miles since completion. The car achieved Top Flight Certification in May of 2022 with a total raw score of 4,421 points out of a possible 4,510 (Top Flight), and we have all the judging documents. This car has been fanatically maintained. Mostly original parts with some NOS went into this restoration.
Laguna Blue over Bright Blue metallic interior makes this C2 really pop! Arguably one of the most desirable and valuable combinations of any mid-year Vette.

EXTERIOR: Very desirable Laguna Blue resprayed in lacquer as it was from the factory. Color code 978 as represented on the body tag. The body and paint present very nicely with no evidence of previous damage anywhere. The panels fit perfectly (better than factory), the gaps are on point with everything functioning as they should (doors, trunk lid, hood, light doors, etc. The bulged hood indicates there's a big block 427 underneath it – the first year for this wonderful engine to be in the Corvette. The lacquer paint is glossy and show quality throughout. The original bumpers were re-chromed, and all the original stainless trim was polished. It has a replacement black soft top that has never been latched and is in really good shape. The reproduction knock-off wheels are always a great look with the Gold Line bias ply tires. The side mount exhaust is more than just a great look, it makes this 427 SING! FYI- the covers are NOS pieces!
INTERIOR: The Bright Blue interior sparkles and according to the tag it was born this way. The interior is all newly restored with new carpets front to back, the seats have new seat foams and Al knock covers, door panels are original, the chrome knobs, window cranks, and other switches are all original. The dash and gauges were all restored and are in perfect working order. We love the Teak Steering wheel; this is an original 1966 Teak wheel! It has the correct 6,500 red line tach and the AM-FM radio sounds like 1966. New wiring harness, new floor mats, all the glass is clear, and the windows operate well. All new weather strips and door fuzzies are an example of the finished car. Original glovebox door, correct shifter, working interior lights. NOS seatbelts and original buckles finish off the interior. The optional traffic hazard lamp switch is a nice touch.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine stamps look to be correct; it’s believed the engine is the original 427-425 hp mill, however not being the original owner we are unable to know for sure. It was completely rebuilt, and she runs very strong, this is a legendary motor – and boy she likes to run. Known as an L72 it features 4 bolt mains, larger oil ports, hotter solid lifter cam, 11:1 compression, rectangular port heads an aluminum intake, large port exhaust manifolds, bigger carb, etc. It's dressed up properly with orange valve covers, an open element air cleaner and the correct ignition shielding. The optional transistor ignition is what lights the fire in this monster. The engine bay and all the related accessories; Carb, Distributor, Alternator, exhaust manifolds, and electrical items, are original and have been rebuilt including the fan motor and headlight motors – all dated original from this car. Reproduction parts include brake master cylinder, air cleaner, and stainless ignition shielding. Other than the missing overspray on the manifolds – this engine bay is near perfect!
TRANSMISSION AND REAR END: The Muncie M-21 Close ratio 4-speed trans has matching VIN numbers and has been rebuilt and shifts nicely – no leaks! The rear end is the original, rebuilt and contains highway friendly 3:55 gears. It has correct date codes and stampings.
UNDERSIDE: simply PERFECT! Everything under the car has been replaced, rebuilt, repainted, replated, or restored – the attention to detail is extraordinary!! The fuel system, the brake system, the Heavy-Duty front and rear F41 Suspension (NOS front springs and ball joints)– all looks BRAND NEW (only 100 miles since it was put together) and performs like a fine Swiss time piece! The steering components are all rebuilt or NOS, of course the disc brakes are in perfect work order and look assembly line fresh. The e-brake cables, fuel lines, brake lines and shocks all look new with no evidence of aging – the restored 66 specific brake calipers have been “sleeved”. You must see the undercarriage of this car!! It’s insane! Looking up at the motor it is perfect, all Chevy Orange, the black oil filter, the replated fuel pump, starter, all the clutch hardware, hoses, switches, etc. – all look like it was installed yesterday!
This 1966 Corvette roadster represents the absolute finest in restoration and collectability. The result of a five-year nut and bolt, frame-off restoration of a nice original car, with the focus on preservation of originality, the end-result is nothing short of outstanding. This is proven by the score attained when judged (1st time out) at the NCRS Top-Flight awards. Finished in the beautiful Corvette Laguna Blue matched with the stunning bright blue interior, it looks like no other! Nothing on this car has been overlooked. Powered by a 427ci/425hp solid-lifter V8 tied to a 4-speed manual transmission and 3:55 POSI rear - this Corvette is a great example of a 1966 big block roadster, and being that it contains so many original parts, that makes it even more special.
